St. Florian's Gate at the Old Town's defensive walls is also an open air art gallery. Not the gate itself, but the great wall next to it. The art gallery probably sells paintings mainly to tourists, as it is a place most tourists pass by.
The paintings are done by local artists. There are both oil paintings and watercolor drawings, and there are several different sizes. Also so small that they can fit in a suitcase. Some of the paintings depict various buildings in Krakow.
Until the 19th century, Kraków had massive medieval city walls. The wall was about 2.4 meters wide and 6-7 meters high. Furthermore, there were 47 defense towers. However, these were demolished and now there are only three defense towers left, one of which is St. Florian's Gate
