Sub Umbra Alarum
1716-1741
Luxemburg,
Festung der Habsburger
12.10.2023-14.04.2024
I checked out what it was all about and found this on the internet:
"The exhibition "Sub umbra alarum. Luxembourg, Fortress of the Habsburgs 1716-1741" illustrates the extensive expansion of the fortifications under the new Austrian rule, including the construction of Fort Thüngen in 1732. Numerous imperial troops and their families settled in the Duchy of Luxembourg during this period and left their mark there.
The exhibition traces the paths of the patrons and executors: Emperor Charles VI in Vienna, his sister Maria Elisabeth, Governor of the Austrian Netherlands in Brussels, as well as the fortress commander Wilhelm Reinhard von Neipperg and the military engineer Simon de Bauffe in Luxembourg. It sheds light on this era, marked by three European wars of succession, in which the fortress played a central strategic role."
