Visited Seattle 13 times. Honorary appointment to the University of Washington faculty in Art in 1980. Presented the World Peace Literature award and The Light of Asia award by the Department of English.

Promoted sports as a path to peace. Founded the international Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team with over 500 public races each year from 2 miles up to 3,000 miles.

Fostered self-transcendence through his record-setting weightlifting. Multiple lifts in one exhibition totaled 200,873 lbs. in New York on November 13th, 2004.

Sri Chinmoy wished to be known as a Student of Peace.

Cities around the world have erected statues of this globally renowned peace-server. Fremont, Center of the Universe for World-Harmony, site of the first public statue of Sri Chinmoy in the USA, dedicated on November 7, 2010.
