In this small passage in the old town Luxembourg, you will find an old draw well.

The well is made from large pieces of (local?) sandstone. On top it has a steel covering with some ornaments. The well has been find by rocks.
Luxembourg city is built on a hill. I make the assumption that it took wuite a while took get to the Alzette river at the bottom of the hill and therfor a well was usefull for the local fishmongers and residents.
The draw well is located in a small passage/inner court. A sign next to it explains (in German) that the famous writer, poet Goethe used to stay in the tavern at the fishmarket.
