***UPDATE***

An explosion blast rocked the Broadway neighbourhood at around 2:30am on February 13th, 2008.

The explosion blew out the fronts of a Taco del Mar restaurant and the Starbucks next door. The blast threw tables and chairs from the coffee shop all over the pavement and bent the store’s sign. Glass flew across across six lanes of the street.

The force of the blast shattered the windows of a London Drugs and levelled a bus shelter across the street. A sixth floor room at a nearby Holiday Inn also had its window break.

No serious injuries were reported.

The RCMP have now determined that arson is to blame. They now believe that a fire was set inside the Taco del Mar restaurant with the use of an accelerant.

I live in the neighbourhood, nearly five blocks away. The windows of my home shook violently at 2:33 in the morning. I sure wasn't expecting to see the mess from the explosion in the morning.

Anyone wanting to log this waymark may have to wait and see if the Starbucks will someday be reopened.

This is a nice convenient Starbucks located in the commercial district of West Broadway. This Starbucks has a few couches and tables inside, as well as a few tables out front. The usual merchandise can be found on the shelves as well as a $1500 coffee maker for you caffeine fiends.

Sandwiches, pastries, impulse carbs, etc.

Review:
Service is great during the non-busy hours. There are line ups to be found in the morning and mid-day.
