Monument of almost one hundred years old that is in the center of the esplanade where cars park, inside the fortress of Valença, surrounded by the Portuguese Heritage.
EN: "Monument commemorating the Portuguese participation in the First World War, built in the thirties of the 20th century, constituting one of the few from that time with a human figure and, above all, with the representation of the goddess of Victory. It has a quadrangular base, a column with a smooth shaft and a capital decorated with shields, a turreted abacus, topped by a plinth supporting the figure of Nike, the winged goddess of Victory, holding a laurel wreath. It combines neoclassical revivalist elements with pre-classic influence, namely in the type of column, its punch and the figure of Nikê, although his robe, with straight fluting, and his wings show Art Deco influences. The Portuguese coat of arms on the capital is flanked by a star and quarter moons and the abacus forms a wall lined with towers."
