The Kerimäki Church is the largest wooden church in the world. It is 45 meters long, 42 meters wide and 27 meters high. The height of the dome is 37 meters.
The church was designed by the Finnish architect AF Granstedt, and construction was completed on 25 September 1847. It is a masterpiece of carpentry with its chairs, columns, galleries, tie beams, arches, dome and lanterns and all men between the ages of 15 and 60 were required to take part in the building. The church was completed in three years
It has a seating capacity of more than 3,000. Altogether, there can be 5,000 people at a time in the church. In the summer, around 50,000 people from all over the world come to visit the church.
