On June 6, 2015, the “Skrotnisses lekplads” playground on the river island of Spikön was inaugurated. The template for the design is based on the children's television series "Skrotnisse and his friends", which was created by the Trollhättan-born authors Jan Lööf and Lars-Åke Kylén.
Skrotnisse's Playground is 1300 square meters and is made up of Skrotnisse's cabin and workshop. There is also a tree house, a maze, the boat Balder and a hangar with a hybrid of a car and a plane. Some parts of the playground were also designed with the surplus combustion chambers for the Ariane-5 rockets, which were manufactured by GKN Aerospace in Trollhättan until 2003.
With its many details, the playground is an attraction in itself that adults also enjoy visiting. Entry is free and possible 24 hours a day. The island of Spikön is considered a green oasis at the channel in Trollhättan; the recreational value is very high, among other things because it is car-free. The island can therefore only be reached on foot or by bike, but parking spaces are available near the access routes to the island. Restrooms are available at Café Spikön, which is roughly 80m to the southwest.
