På Mariehamns Rotaryklubbs initiativ har Skargårdshavets Sjöfartsdistrikt deponerat, denna klocka att uppsättas i Mariehamn stad.
Klockan togs i bruk år 1942 då den upp- ställdes på Ledskäret söder on Herrö udde, 12 Nm SO om. Mariehamn. Vid dålig sikt hordes dess klang ut över dimhöljda vatten under 30 års tid.
Sedan sommaren 1995 är den uppställd här på torget som minnesmärke över gångna tiders sjösäkerhetsanordningar.

Maarianhaminan Rotary Clubin aloitteesta Saaristomeren Sjöfartsdistrikt on päättänyt tämän kellon asennettavaksi Maarianhaminaan. Kello otettiin käyttöön vuonna 1942, jolloin se asetettiin Ledskäretiin Herrö saaren eteläpuolella, 12 Nm lounaaseen Maarianhaminasta. Huonon näkyvyyden aikana sen ääni kaikui sumun peittämien vesien yli 30 vuoden ajan.
Kesästä 1995 lähtien se on pystytetty tänne aukiolle muistomerkiksi menneisyyden merenkulun turvalaitteille.
[EN] Ledskäret's fog Bell
On the initiative of the Rotary Club of Mariehamn, the Archipelago Sjöfartsdistrikt has decided to install this bell in Mariehamn. The bell was put into use in 1942, when it was placed in Ledskäret south of Herrö island, 12 Nm southwest of Mariehamn. During low visibility, its sound echoed through the fog-shrouded waters for more than 30 years.
Since the summer of 1995, it has been erected here in the square as a memorial to the maritime safety devices of the past. The bronze Bell is now on wooden triangular structure. It's on height about 4 meters and there has been installed electric motor to possible sound this bell. Waited for hours to be even, -it didn't chime.
