Mariehamn Town Hall is located on the Öhbergska hill, where there is a view over the city. Both the city and the municipality are called Mariehamn
Mariehamn's town hall was designed by architect Lars Sonck. Construction began in August 1938 and was completed in September 1939. The town hall is one of Aland's finest buildings.
In the building there is still much of the original furniture.
The building is still in use as a town hall.
Mariehamn is the capital of the Aland Islands and is also the islands' largest city. The population in 2022 was 11,742. (

Shipping has always been very important and there are several ferry routes to Finland and Sweden, among others. In the old harbor area, there are also shipbuilding, a a ship engine museum and other industries dedicated to seafaring and fishing.
Tourism has also increased and around the city there are many cafes and arts and crafts shops that mainly sell local goods. Mariehamn is also not bigger than you relatively quickly see the most interesting places. Among other things, a linden avenue in six rows which almost crosses through the city. But the maritime museum, which has the world's largest collection of wooden ships, is also an exciting place.
