"se celebra el centenario del nacimiento de Eusebio Sempere, nacido el 3 de abril de 1923 en Onil. Sempere es una de las figuras esenciales del panorama artístico español de la segunda mitad del siglo XX y el artista alicantino contemporáneo con mayor reconocimiento internacional: Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes (1983) y Doctor Honoris Causa por la Universidad de Alicante (1984). Considerado el introductor de la serigrafía en nuestro país, su producción está vinculada a la abstracción lírica estrechamente ligada con el arte óptico y cinético.
La Biblioteca de la Universidad de Alicante tiene una colección de libros para que puedas conocer la vida y obra de este gran artista.
En 1979 el Presidente Adolfo Suarez hizo entrega al Congreso de Europa de su escultura colgante: Helicoidal. También fue nombrado consejero de la Consellería de Cultura de la Generalitat Valenciana.
Después vinieron años de reconocimientos y premios, en 1980 se realizó su primera exposición antológica y el Rey le impuso la Medalla de Oro al Mérito de las BBAA. En 1983 se le concedió el Premio Príncipe de Asturias a las Bellas Artes y fue nombrado hijo predilecto de la provincia por la Diputación Provincial de Alicante.
En el año 1984 es investido Doctor Honoris Causa por la Universidad de Alicante y nombrado Académico de Honor por la R.A. BBAA de San Carlos de Valencia. El 20 de abril es nombrado hijo predilecto de la Villa de Onil.
El 10 de abril del año 1985 falleció en La Cova, Onil."

Sempere is one of the essential figures of the Spanish art scene in the second half of the 20th century and the contemporary artist from Alicante with the greatest international recognition: Award Prince of Asturias of the Arts (1983) and Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Alicante (1984).Considered the introducer of screen printing in our country, his production is linked to lyrical abstraction closely linked to optical and kinetic art.

Later came years of recognition and awards, in 1980 his first anthological exhibition was held and the King awarded him the Gold Medal of Merit of the Fine Arts. In 1983 he was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Fine Arts and was named favorite son of the province by the Provincial Council of Alicante.
In 1984 he was invested Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Alicante and named Honorary Academician by the R.A. Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia. On April 20 he is named favorite son of the Villa de Onil.
On April 10, 1985, he died in La Cova, Onil."
