"Al principio de los años veinte nuestra población tenía graves problemas en dos prestaciones municipal básicas, que podían afectar la salud del municipio, El cementerio y el matadero. Ambas estaba al final de la calle denominadas . Carnisseria. Hoy en el lugar del antiguo cementerio se encuentra la Ermita De Sant Antoni.
Después de muchas diligencias se encontró el lugar adecuado,Así queda reflejado en uno de los puntos tratados en el pleno municipal celebrado el 20 de junio de 1924, guardando las distancias reglamentarias del casco de la población.
El 22 de octubre de 1925 el Ayuntamiento publica el proyecto del nuevo cementerio municipal, confeccionado por el D.Juan Vidal y ofrece a los vecinos de Mutxamel la posibilidad de comprar parcelas y elegir el lugar que quieran.
Se observa el núcleo central del trazado, en medio encontramos dedicado a la patrona de la población La Virgen de Loreto y en las calles de al lado dos figuras femeninas, la Virgen del Carmen y Santa Barbara.
Aprovechando la festividad del Salvador el 6 de agosto de 1927, quedando inagurado así el nuevo cementerio. El ayuntamiento a regalado al nicho 1 en el que fue colocado el cadáver de la Señora Maía Josefa Marco de Blanco. La banda de música La Alianza de esta población desfiló tocando sentimentales marchas fúnebres.
En 1945 se reformó , ampliando el grupo de nichos según las necesidades de la población. También se modifico el acceso de entrada, clausurando el existente y abriendo la vía principal por el este, con entrada por la carretera que va de Mutxamel a Xixona.
Por lo tanto la visión arquitectónica de hoy, 2014, nada tiene que ver con el proyecto que del año 1925".
