Temple Newsam is a large public park of over 1500 acres that was formerly part of a privately owned stately home and estate. It was sold to Leeds City Council for a nominal sum in 1922 with a covenant to ensure it is maintained for the public.

The land is a mixture of wooded areas, open parkland and formal gardens.

These pergolas are in a sunken formal garden next to the house with formal cut hedges in between and with paths though this garden area.
Is the pergola freestanding or attached to a structure?: Freestanding
