Monument to the missing plane L'Oiseau Blanc and the pilots Charles Nungesser and François Coli. On the wings you can read the name of the plane L'Oiseau Blanc. However, it is impossible to photograph the entire name from the ground, but then it can be seen from above.

In 1927, the plane disappeared during an attempt to complete the first non-stop transatlantic flight between Paris and New York City. This memorial stands at the last place it was seen.

On May 8, 1927 at 06:48, the aircraft was sighted over Étretat on the coast. That was the last time the plane was seen. A fisherman reported seeing the wreckage of the plane in the water off the coast of Étretat a day after takeoff. Other reports claim they heard the plane over Exeter, England at 08.15, just like an observation at 10.00 over County Clare in Ireland. Reports from residents of Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, who stated that they had heard a plane fly overhead around 9:30 a.m. No wreckage of the plane was ever found.
