La Iglesia de los Santos Ranieri y Leonardo, construida entre 1865 y 1868 (bajo el proyecto de Paolo Folini) en sustitución de la homónima iglesia del siglo XVI ubicada en la Plaza de la Catedral, se encuentra en la calle realizada en el ámbito de un más amplio proyecto de embellecimiento del Campo de los Milagros, promovido a partir del año 1862 por el prefecto Luigi Torelli. Entre las numerosas intervenciones decididas durante las obras de esta valorización, cabe destacar la apertura de una calle que permitía acceder al campanario por detrás y situarlo en el punto de máxima inclinación. El nuevo eje viario cruzaba Via Traversa (procedente de Plaza del Arzobispado) y, justo en la desembocadura de esta última, se decidió colocar la Iglesia de San Ranierino. Para construir el nuevo edificio se emplearon los mismos materiales y se adoptaron medidas afines a las de la estructura apenas destruida.
En la fachada, enlucida y cuadrada en las esquinas por parástades, y cerrada en la parte superior por un tímpano triangular, se abre el portal rematado con una ventana circular. En el arquitrabe de la puerta una inscripción recuerda el año de fundación de la iglesia. Un solo espacio modula el ambiente interior, cerrado por la bóveda de cañón en la que Raffaello Bardelli pintó un cielo estrellado (1867-1869).
El altar mayor, de dimensiones monumentales, es obra de diversos maestros de distintos períodos. El aparato escultórico fue realizado por el florentino Andrea Guardi, contratado por la Ópera de la Catedral a partir de 1451 para modernizar el ya existente altar de San Rainiero, realizado por el sienés Tino di Camaino (alumno de Giovanni Pisano) a principios del siglo XIV. La estructura escultórica conserva la tela que representa a La Virgen y los Santos Torpe y Leonardo (1590-1591), considerada entre las más representativas del pisano Aurelio Lomi.

On the façade, plastered and squared at the corners by parastades, and closed at the top by a triangular tympanum, the portal topped with a circular window opens. On the architrave of the door an inscription recalls the year the church was founded. A single space modulates the interior environment, closed by the barrel vault in which Raffaello Bardelli painted a starry sky (1867-1869).
The main altar, of monumental dimensions, is the work of various masters from different periods. The sculptural apparatus was made by the Florentine Andrea Guardi, hired by the Cathedral Opera from 1451 to modernize the already existing altar of Saint Rainier, made by Tino di Camaino from Siene (student of Giovanni Pisano) at the beginning of the 14th century. . The sculptural structure preserves the canvas that represents The Virgin and Saints Clumsy and Leonardo (1590-1591), considered among the most representative of the Pisan Aurelio Lomi.
