A plaque placed by the Daughters of the American Revolution on the front of the former Noah Webster Memorial Library identified the building as the first public library in West Hartford, CT.
The Noah Webster Library Building was built by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Construction began in 1915 as a memorial to lexicographer Noah Webster, who was born and lived in West Hartford. The Colonial Revival style building was designed by the firm Davis & Brooks. It served as the West Hartford Library from 1917 to 1937. It was replaced in 1938 by the current Noah Webster Memorial Library at 20 South Main Street.
Today the building is the corporate headquarters of to Oskana, a hair salon services company.
