The 80,000 square-foot Newport Car Museum in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, exhibits automobiles from the middle of the 20th century to some of the latest -- and most expensive -- of today. Founded by Maggie and Gunther Buerman and opened in 2017, the private collection is presented in seven galleries: Corvette, Fin Cars, Ford/Shelby, MOPAR, Porsche, and "World Cars". There is a gift shop, a 1,800 square-foot event room, and many car club visits. Guests can easily expect to spend a couple of hours exploring the cars up close - though you can't sit in them, photography is welcomed. Set among the vehicles is another collection: an eclectic mix of Mid-Century chairs and benches including iconic designs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Herman Miller/Eames, and Salvador Dali, all of which are available to try out whenever you need a rest.
