Florence Veterans Park in Florence, South Carolina, features a pair of anchors. The mates lay head-to-head with stocks crossed at the shanks and their flukes set nearly parallel to the ground. They rest atop a low granite slab engraved with the USMM insignia above this dedication:

"The Daughters of the American Revolution [ed. Samuel Bacot Chapter] honored the Merchant Marines...by presenting a monument that is now housed at the Florence Veterans Park. The monument consists of anchors donated by Patriots Point Naval and Marine Museum of Mt. Pleasant. Browns Memorials in Florence designed and manufactured the monument." The Samuel Bacot Chapter DAR of was organized January 18, 1908 and chartered March 14 that same year. It was "named in honor and memory of Samuel Bacot, who served as Lieutenant under General Francis Marion in 1782. He was a native of Christ Church Parish, South Carolina, born near Goose Creek, in 1745."
