Wolf Creek Generating Station is a nuclear power plant located near Burlington, Kansas. The plant occupies nearly ten thousand acres. Wolf Creek, dammed to create Coffey County Lake (formerly Wolf Creek Lake), provides not only the name but water for the condensers, so this plant does not require the usual cooling towers.

This plant has one Westinghouse pressurized water reactor that came on line on June 4, 1985. The reactor was rated at 1170 MW. A new turbine generator rotor was installed in 2011 that increased electrical output to approximately 1250 MW. The plant recently applied for and recieved a renewal of the plant's license, extending its life from forty to sixty years.

The closest approach to the plant for civilians is the intersection of 16th Road and Oxen Lane, northeast of the plant. These are the waymark coordinates. Stringtown Cemetery, northwest of the plant, is closer and would give a clear view from across the lake, but there was no access to the cemetery on the day of my visit.
