Een tijdje terug is rondom Veessen een hoogwatergeul gecreeerd. Bij hoogwater gaan de kleppen open en stoomt het water het bedijkte gebied in. Dan wordt Veessen even een eiland in de Gelderse IJssel. Het is nodig omdat anders het water doorbreekt op plekken waar er geen voorbereidingen zijn getroffen. Bij de brug over de hoogwatergeul, aan de Veessense kant, staat een panorama zuil.

Bij de inlaat van de Hoogwatergeul bij Veessen staat sinds 2018 een panorama als startpunt van een serie objecten die tussen Veessen, Vorchten en Marle geplaatst zijn, dat de oude loop van de IJssel zichtbaar maakt door middel van panorama’s.

Het panorama is gemaakt door Jeroen Hoogstraten en bestaat uit een schuine panorama-plaat op een betonnen trap.

At the inlet of the Hoogwatergeul near Veessen, a panorama has been standing since 2018 as the starting point of a series of objects placed between Veessen, Vorchten and Marle, which makes the old course of the IJssel visible through panoramas.

The panorama was made by Jeroen Hoogstraten and consists of an oblique panorama plate on a concrete staircase.
