Winged silence – “Bevlindert”- Lommel, Belgium, 2018 ?

In between rebirth and the decaying process, the sculpture shows different metamorphosis. ?

I wanted to portray the metamorphosis so conceptually that the tension would be felt in the “Gesamtkunstwerk” between two separate principles of design. While at the same time creating a dialogue in the composition, with the cocoon as an element of mass (space occupying form), as opposed to the final life phase of the butterfly with its element of space (space-defining form). ?

The uneven rhythmic shape of the cocoon was welded with thousands of Corten steel plates in my studio. It is precisely this slight anomaly in the repetition of the shape that characterizes the element of mass. ?

The two wings of "Winged Silence" were specifically outsourced to CSM Steel structures, in collaboration with the extensive technical studies that were necessary to realize the construction of the wings. The glass enamel panels were realized using 3D technology. The total sculpture is 9 meters long and 5 meters high with a weight of 4800 kg.

Silence ailé – « Bevlindert »- Lommel, Belgique, 2018 ?

Entre la renaissance et le processus de décomposition, la sculpture montre différentes métamorphoses. ?

Je voulais dépeindre la métamorphose de manière si conceptuelle que la tension se ferait sentir dans le 'Gesamtkunstwerk' entre deux principes de conception distincts. Tout en créant un dialogue dans la composition, avec le cocon comme élément de masse (forme occupant l'espace), par opposition à la phase finale de la vie du papillon avec son élément d'espace (forme définissant l'espace). ?

La forme rythmique inégale du cocon a été soudée avec des milliers de plaques d'acier Corten dans mon studio. C'est précisément cette légère anomalie dans la répétition de la forme qui caractérise l'élément de masse. ?

Les deux ailes de « Winged Silence » ont été spécifiquement sous-traitées à CSM Steel structures, en collaboration avec les études techniques approfondies nécessaires à la réalisation de la construction des ailes. Les panneaux en verre émaillé ont été réalisés à l'aide de la technologie 3D. La sculpture totale mesure 9 mètres de long et 5 mètres de haut pour un poids de 4800 kg.
