DE: Helga Weyhe wurde am 11. Dezember 1922 in Salzwedel geboren. 1965 übernahm sie mit dem Erhalt der Gewerbegenehmigung der DDR-Behörden den Buchhandel ihres Vaters und führte das Geschäft bis zu ihrem Tod am 4. Januar 2021 weiter. Sie wurde als älteste Buchhändlerin Deutschlands bekannt und erhielt im Jahr 2012 die Ehrenbürgerwürde der Stadt Salzwedel. Mit dem Erhalt der Ehrenbürgerwürde wurde von der Stadt auf der Südseite der Mönchskirche auch ein Ginkgo-Baum für sie gepflanzt.

EN: Helga Weyhe was born on December 11th, 1922 in Salzwedel. In 1965, after receiving the business license from the GDR authorities, she took over her father's book store and continued to run the business until her death on January 4th, 2021. She became known as the oldest bookseller in Germany and was made an honorary citizen of the city of Salzwedel in 2012. With the receipt of honorary citizenship, the city also planted a ginkgo tree for her on the south side of the monk's church.
