Puerto Plata is one of the northern provinces of the Dominican Republic. The area has become an increasingly popular tourist attraction since the late 1990s mainly due to its fine beaches.

The Mayor's Office of San Felipe de Puerto Plata inaugurated on Saturday morning the Tourist Parador of Puerto Plata with an investment of 1.5 million pesos. This new attraction is located on Gregorio Luperón Avenue (boardwalk) near the La Puntilla area.
The architectural design of this parador is made in allusion to the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the growth of Puerto Plata, combined with the greenery and nature of the Loma Isabel de Torres.
On the platform where our sign is founded, the crystal clear waters of our Atlantic Ocean are represented, a coastal city and intense blue, what better color than the blue waters that bathe us to give character to our idiosyncrasy, there emerge the silver letters of our name Puerto Plata, as in allusion to it Columbus named it upon arrival.
