This plaque is located near the entrance of the 'Strijdershuis'.

The South Alberta Regiment offered in September 1999 this plaque with the following text:

The South Alberta Regiment (SAR), 29th Cdn Amr'd Recce Reg't, part of 4th Cdn Amr'd Div, after leaving the area of the Falais Gap in Normandy were assigned the task of clearing the channel ports to Ostend, seizing Brugge and crossing of the Brugge/Ghent Canal. The Belgian BDE was under command of the Cdn Amry during that campaign.
The SAR's salute the citizens of Brugge for their wartime support and their care of our war dead buried at nearby Adegem Cemetery and the veterans of the Belgian BDE who helped in clearing the enemy from Belgian soil.
These actions have established a special bond with the Belgian people which the SAR always cherish.

About the South Alberta Regiment:
"The South Alberta Regiment (SAR) was a regiment of the Canadian Army that existed from 1924 to 1954. Originally infantry, in February 1942 it became an armoured unit. During World War II the Regiment fought from July 1944 to May 1945 in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany."

Market translation into Dutch / Vertaling plakaat in het Nederlands
