NL In het Nederlandse monopoly-spel is de Dorpsstraat, direct na start, de goedkoopste straat in het spel. De Dorpsstraat vind je ook in Schoonrewoerd, het is daar de hoofdstraat van het dorp.

De rechte weg tussen Leerdam en Everdingen vormde de ontginningsas voor de gronden tussen de weg en de Diefdijk, die voor 1284 reeds als Diefweg aanwezig was. Op de plek waar deze weg (de voorganger van de Dorpsstraat) een oost-westlopende rug kruiste en de grond dus steviger was, werd in de 14e eeuw een kerk gebouwd en later kwam er de dorpskern van Schoonrewoerd tot ontwikkeling. Een plek die later nog eens 3 meter opgehoogd zou worden en waaraan het dorp zijn naam te danken heeft. ´Woerd´ is immers in een rivierengebied de naam voor een verhoging in het landschap.

In tegenstelling tot veel andere dorpen in de Vijfheerenlanden heeft Schoonrewoerd een brink. Voor de verklaring hiervan moeten we terug naar de tijd van de ontginning. Het oorspronkelijk bij deze cope-ontginning behorende nederzettingenpatroon bestond namelijk uit één- of tweezijdig bebouwde ontginningsassen, waarlangs op bepaalde afstand van elkaar boerderijen lagen. De vorming van een dorpskern ontstond door plaatselijke verdichting van de bebouwing langs deze as.

The straight road between Leerdam and Everdingen formed the reclamation axis for the land between the road and the Diefdijk, which was already present as Diefweg before 1284. At the place where this road (the predecessor of the Dorpsstraat) crossed an east-west ridge and the ground was therefore firmer, a church was built in the 14th century and later the village center of Schoonrewoerd developed. A place that would later be raised another 3 meters and to which the village owes its name. After all, 'Woerd' is the name in a river area for an elevation in the landscape.

In contrast to many other villages in the Vijfheerenlanden, Schoonrewoerd has a green. For the explanation of this we have to go back to the time of mining. The settlement pattern originally associated with this cope-reclamation consisted of reclamation axes built on one or two sides, along which farms were located at a certain distance from each other. The formation of a village center resulted from local densification of the buildings along this axis.
