Tino Rossi est décédé d'un cancer du pancréas en 1983 à Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Son corps a été transporté à Ajaccio pour être inhumé dans la chapelle familiale du Cimetière marin d'Ajaccio également appelé Cimetière des Sanguinaires.

Né à Ajaccio, en Corse, Rossi était doué d'une voix bien adaptée à l'opéra. Il est devenu ténor dans le style cabaret français. Plus tard, il est apparu dans divers films. Au cours de sa carrière, on rapporte qu'il a enregistré plus de 2000 chansons et il est apparu dans plus de 25 films, dont le plus notable fut la production de 1954, Si Versailles m'était conté... réalisé par Sacha Guitry. Ses ballades romantiques firent pâlir surtout les femmes et ses chansons savantes de Jules Massenet (1842-1912), Reynaldo Hahn (1875–1947) et d'autres compositeurs ont vendu des théâtres partout où il s'est produit.

Parmi ses tubes les plus célèbres, Petit Papa Noel s'est vendu à plus de 30 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde. Au cours de ses 50 ans de carrière de chanteur, Tino Rossi a enregistré plus de 2 000 chansons et vendu plus de 200 millions d'albums, faisant de lui l'un des artistes les plus vendus (et surtout oubliés) de tous les temps.

Tino Rossi died of pancreatic cancer in 1983 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. His body was transported to Ajaccio for burial in the family chapel at the Cimetière marin d'Ajaccio also known as Cimetière des Sanguinaires.

Born in Ajaccio, Corsica, Rossi was gifted with a voice well suited for opera. He became a tenor in the French cabaret style. Later, he appeared in various movies. During his career it is reported he recorded over 2000 songs and he appeared in more than 25 films, the most notable of which was the 1954 production, Si Versailles m'était conté... directed by Sacha Guitry. His romantic ballads had especially women swooning and his art songs by Jules Massenet (1842–1912), Reynaldo Hahn (1875–1947), and other composers, sold out theaters wherever he performed.

Among his most famous hits, Petit Papa Noel sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Over the course of his 50-year singing career, Tino Rossi recorded over 2000 songs and sold over 200 million albums making him one of the best selling (and mostly forgotten) artists of all time.
