Se trata de la estatua fundida en bronce con pedestal de piedras en 1980 de Félix que apoya una pierna sobre un pedestal y con unos prismáticos colgados en el cuello y el lobo en los pies. El monumento mide unos 4 metros entre el pedestal y la escultura, siendo el pedestal de 1,70 metros. Un recuerdo de los niños de Cantabria, al naturalista, estudioso y defensor de los animales el 18 de Enero de 1981, diez meses más tarde de su muerte. El autor de la escultura fue el médico y escultor Ramón Ruiz Lloreda.

Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente nació en la provincia de Burgos, el 14 de Marzo de 1928. Veraneaba habitualmente en Santander, lugar donde llegó a ejercer profesionalmente su padre. En 1957 se graduó en estomatología en Madrid. Durante dos años ejerce como odontólogo en Madrid. En 1960 tras fallecer su padre, abandona el oficio de dentista para dedicarse definitivamente a la cetrería y a la divulgación científica. En 1964, gracias a sus cada vez mayores contactos internacionales con científicos de toda Europa, presenta en el Congreso Internacional para la Protección de las Aves de Presa, un estudio sobre la situación del halcón peregrino en España. Publica su primer libro, “El arte de la cetrería”.
Murió en Alaska en el año 1980 en un accidente de avioneta cuando iba a filmar la carrera de trineo con perros más importante del mundo.
Empezó en la televisión hablando de los halcones. Después hizo un programa en TVE llamado el “Hombre y la Tierra”. Gran defensor de lobo, fue escritor de la revista “Blanco y Negro”.

Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente was born in the province of Burgos, on March 14, 1928. He regularly spent his summers in Santander, where his father came to practice professionally. In 1957 he graduated in stomatology in Madrid. For two years he worked as a dentist in Madrid. In 1960, after the death of his father, he left the dentistry profession to dedicate himself permanently to falconry and scientific dissemination. In 1964, thanks to his increasing international contacts with scientists from all over Europe, he presented a study on the situation of the peregrine falcon in Spain at the International Congress for the Protection of Birds of Prey. He published his first book, “The art of falconry”.
He died in Alaska in 1980 in a small plane crash when he was going to film the most important dog sled race in the world.
