El ángel exterminador, también conocido como ángel guardián, es una escultura de Josep Llimona de estilo modernista, de 1895. Situada en el antiguo cementerio de Comillas.

El conocido como Ángel exterminador del cementerio de Comillas es el elemento mas característico de todo el Camposanto y quizás su reclamo mas importante.
Esta soberbia y enorme escultura obra de Josep Llimona y que se sitúa en lo alto de uno de los muros en ruinas de la Iglesia donde se situa el Cementerio. Esta escultura iba a ser en principio parte del Mausoleo del primogénito del Marques de Comillas, Antonio Lopez Bru, muerto con solo 24 años, y al cual su padre iba a enterrar el en Panteón familiar situado junto al Palacio de Sobrellano, también en Comillas. Al parecer la escultura no pudo entrar en la girola que rodea el altar del panteón debido a su enorme tamaño y fue donada a la ciudad que la situó en lo alto de una de las paredes de la iglesia de Cementerio, desde la cual domina toda la ciudad.
La escultura, esculpida en 1895, representa a Abadón, o Ángel del Abismo sin Fondo, personaje que aparece en el Apocalipsis.
El Ángel Exterminador es Abadón o Abaddon ("destrucción" o "perdición"). En el libro del Apocalipsis es el «Ángel del abismo sin fondo», quien reinará sobre las plagas de langostas que asolarán a la humanidad «no marcada en la frente con el sello de Dios». En Apocalipsis 9:11 también figura identificado como Apolión o como el anticristo.
The one known as the Exterminating Angel of the Comillas Cemetery is the most characteristic element of the entire Cemetery and perhaps its most important claim.
This superb and enormous sculpture, the work of Josep Llimona, is located on top of one of the ruined walls of the Church where the Cemetery is located. This sculpture was originally going to be part of the Mausoleum of the eldest son of the Marquis of Comillas, Antonio Lopez Bru, who died at only 24 years of age, and whom his father was going to bury in the family vault located next to the Sobrellano Palace, also in Comillas. Apparently the sculpture could not enter the ambulatory that surrounds the altar of the pantheon due to its enormous size and was donated to the city that placed it on top of one of the walls of the church of the Cemetery, from which it dominates the entire city.
The sculpture, sculpted in 1895, represents Abaddon, or Angel of the Bottomless Abyss, a character who appears in the Apocalypse.
The Exterminating Angel is Abadón or Abaddon ("destruction" or "perdition"). In the book of Revelation it is the "Angel of the bottomless abyss" who will reign over the plagues of locusts that will ravage humanity "not marked on the forehead with the seal of God." In Revelation 9:11 he is also identified as Apollyon or as the antichrist.
