The statue of King Karl XI has contained two Time Capsules, an old one from 1897 and a new one from 2017.

The statue of King Karl XI was erected on Stortorget in 1897. In this connection, a copper chest filled with books, newspapers, coins and calendars from the year of inauguration was built into the stone pillar of the statue.

In 2016 and 2017, the entire Stortorget was renovated. In this connection, another Time Capsule was placed in the statue. It contains a CD and a USB stick with Karlskrona pictures, a timetable for the train between Karlskrona and Copenhagen, today's newspaper, and other things that give an impression of Karlskrona in 2017.
