Currently inside is the Town Hall of the town.

Of its façade, it is worth highlighting its central part, where the main door is located, as well as the presidential balcony, adorned by the official flags.

Of its interior, its marble staircase and the paintings that are exhibited in the dome and in the part destined for the Plenary Hall, made by Ramon Fraxenet, stand out.

Torrelavega is a municipality and Spanish city of Cantabria. Industrial and commercial in nature, it is the second most important urban center in the autonomous community behind the capital, Santander. It belongs to the Besaya region and is located in a valley or plain about 8 kilometers from the Cantabrian coast. The rivers Saja and Besaya converge in it. The population of the municipal term amounts to 51,597 inhabitants (INE 2020).

Torrelavega is one of the towns that the Camino de Santiago del Norte crosses along the Besaya route.

Few finds are documented from prehistoric times, located in the towns of Tanos, where there is already evidence of Lower or Middle Paleolithic tools, and Viérnoles, where Bronze or Iron ceramics and schematic paintings were found. In addition, other archaeological sites have been located in the municipality, such as Mount Dobra, or nearby caves located in neighboring municipalities, such as Altamira, in Santillana del Mar, or La Clotilde, in Quijas (Reocín). among many others, in which the human presence in prehistoric times has been verified.
