El edificio es una construcción típica de la zona, casas de montaña, de tres plantas, con un porche frontal de tres arcadas.
En pleno corazón de la Sierra de Gúdar, en el curso alto del río Alcalá que más adelante se convierte en afluente del río Mijares, se encuentra ubicado Alcalá de la Selva, pueblo de pasado medieval caracterizado sin duda por el impacto que causa su vista, con su graderío de casas solariegas colgadas sobre el valle. Sin duda, uno de los más bellos conjuntos urbanos de la Sierra y de toda la provincia.
En este término municipal se conocen varios yacimientos arqueológicos de la Edad del Bronce, como la "Cueva Pijetas", del Bronce Antiguo, o"El Castillo", del Bronce Pleno.
De época ibérica se conservan restos en "El Castillejo", donde se recogieron materiales superficiales de gran interés.
Asimismo, podemos encontrar otros puntos de interés cultural como son"La Iglesia de San Simón y San Judas"de finales del siglo XVI, en cuya construcción intervinieron los canteros darocenses Juan de Garaite y Francisco Ortiz Mena,"La Ermita de Loreto y de San Roque"recientemente restauradas,"El Humilladero"construido en 1628 por encargo de Miguel Palomar cuya función tenía que ver con el cumplimiento de prácticas penitenciales de tipo ligeramente infamante y"El Santuario de la Virgen de la Vega o del Espino"construído por Juan Escuder en 1751, siguiendo el diseño del padre carmelita Fray Bernardo de la Purificación, en el que son de destacar las pinturas murales de las bóvedas, obra del turolense Ignacio Zaera realizadas de 1825 a 1828.
