The Diên Biên Phu battle was the last battle the Vietnam independence war in 1954.
On 7th May 1954, French troops surrendered and it was the beginning of Geneva Peace Treaty which led to the independence of North Vietnam.
One of the main fights of this battle was the attack of A1 hill (named Eliane 2 by French) in March 1954. The cemetery was built to host the bodies of 645 Vietnamese soldiers fallen during this attack.
