About the pool:
"The swimming pool opened its doors in 1921. Initially it was an excavated, local pond on an estate near Terworm Castle. The former Oranje-Nassau mines operated the swimming pool. It was intended for the families of mine officials, the senior management of the coal mines.

The closure of the last coal mine – private mine Oranje-Nassau I (Heerlen), in 1974, led to the downfall of the facilities."
