[FIN] Ensimmäinen sirkusseurue saapui Suomeen Ruotsista 1802. Kyseessä oli osa ranskalaisen Jean Lustrén ryhmää. Kupittaan puistossa oli sopiva aukio sirkukselle ja paikalla on nykyään kyltti jonka aikajanaan on merkitty vuoden 1802 sirkusesitys.
Kupittaalla järjestetään vielä nykyäänkin sirkustapahtumia. Kuuluisin kiertävä sirkus Suomessa on Sirkus Finlandia. Se on perustettu vuonna 1976.
Jean Lustre´n taitoratsastusryhmän esiintymistä Turussa kesällä 1802 voidaan kuitenkin pitää ensimmäisenä.
[EN] The first circus troupe arrived in Finland from Sweden in 1802. It was part of the Frenchman Jean Lustré's troupe. There was a suitable square for a circus in Kupittaa park, and today there is a sign with the timeline of the 1802 circus show.
Circus events are still organized in Kupittaa today. The most famous traveling circus in Finland is Sirkus Finlandia. It was founded in 1976.
However, the performance of Jean Lustre's equestrian team in Turku in the summer of 1802 can be considered the first.
