Velodrome Amsterdam heeft een compleet vernieuwde wielerbaan met een lichthaas en mylabs. De baan uit 1972 wordt zowel gebruikt door amateur als professionele wielrenners. Er zijn diverse wielerverenigingen en wielerscholen die gebruik maken van de ruimte. Een aantal voorbeelden hiervan zijn de Amsterdamse Baan Wielerschool, Knwu Topsport, Asc Olympia Knwu Regionaal Trainingscentra, Wielerschool.nu en de georganiseerde trainingen vanuit het Velodrome. Het gaat zowel om begeleide als vrije trainingen. Verschillende disciplines van het baanwielrennen zijn duurtrainingen, koppelkoers, sprint, dernytrainingen, cyclinglab en aerotrainingen. De gemeente Amsterdam en daarnaast een groot aantal vrijwilligers zorgen ervoor dat Velodrome Amsterdam draaiende wordt gehouden.”

Een hoogtepunt in de geschiedenis van de wielerbaan is de vernieuwing van het oude loopvlak waarbij tijdwaarneming is aangebracht en een elektronische haas. Er worden hier aanvallen op het werelduurrecord gedaan en kortgeleden zijn de NK-jeugdkampioenschappen gehouden. Wij proberen nu, met de vernieuwde baan en de mogelijkheden dat men kampioenschappen op een 200 meter baan mag rijden, het Velodrome nadrukkelijker op de kaart te zetten. In het verleden was de zesdaagse van Amsterdam ook een hoogtepunt, maar die is er op dit moment niet meer. De organisatie die dit deed is zes jaar geleden uit het Velodrome gestapt, dit valt nu onder beheer van de Gemeente Amsterdam.”

Velodrome Amsterdam has a completely renovated velodrome with a light hare and mylabs. The track from 1972 is used by both amateur and professional cyclists. There are various cycling associations and cycling schools that use the space. Some examples of this are the Amsterdamse Baan Wielerschool, Knwu Topsport, Asc Olympia Knwu Regional Training Centers, Wielerschool.nu and the organized training sessions from the Velodrome. It concerns both supervised and free training sessions. Different disciplines of track cycling are endurance training, madison, sprint, derny training, cycling lab and aero training. The municipality of Amsterdam and a large number of volunteers ensure that Velodrome Amsterdam is kept running.”

A highlight in the history of the velodrome is the renewal of the old tread with timekeeping and an electronic hare. Attacks on the world hour record are being made here and the NK youth championships were recently held. We are now trying to put the Velodrome more emphatically on the map with the renewed track and the possibilities that championships can be ridden on a 200 meter track. In the past, the Six Days of Amsterdam was also a highlight, but it is no longer there at the moment. The organization that did this left the Velodrome six years ago, which is now managed by the Municipality of Amsterdam.”
