The headline in the local newspaper reads:
"Hidden antenna in church tower

Zuidwolde - There has been a cherry picker at the Dutch Reformed Church on the Hoofdstraat in Zuidwolde for about ten days. This is used to perform a job that you would not expect at a church. The NH Kerk has agreed with Vodafone that the company may place an antenna on the tower of the church.
Placing it on doesn't seem to be a problem, but those are the slates on the tower. These stones conduct the signals to and from the antenna insufficiently. So they all need to be replaced. Since last week, a specialized company has been busy with this, Camouflage BV from Boxtel, which specializes in the camouflage of GSM and UMTS antennas on churches, for example.

At the beginning of this week, Jesse Voet of this company climbed back into the bucket of the cherry picker. This time he was joined by Evert Gruppen, member of the churchwarden of the NH Kerk. “It is our building and indirectly we are the clients, so I want to find out how this is happening and what it looks like up there. Yes, a kind of inspection trip.' Gruppen responds laconically to the observation that an antenna on the tower does not really embellish the church building: 'The special thing is that you don't see anything of that antenna at all. It is more or less hidden in the tower itself. I don't think it would have happened otherwise."

"Replacing slates in the roof surface of the church tower for plastic panels. Replace existing wooden reverberation boards with plastic with a 'wood look'."

The NH church in Zuidwolde is a national monument. There are rules which allow antenna's to be placed within a national monument. These rules are quite extensive/strict. They can be found here (in Dutch) (visit link)
