About the Lingegebied & Diefdijk Zuid;
"The Zuider Lingedijk and Diefdijk-Zuid Natura 2000 area comprises the banks of the river Linge, which has a narrow catchment area wedged between the Rhine and the Waal. Due to its size, scale and dynamics, the Linge occupies a special position in the Dutch river landscape. The landscape is less dynamic than that of the Rhine, Waal, Maas and IJssel, but in many respects it still has the character of a river landscape with associated landscape elements, vegetation and species. In connection with the lower dynamics, the area is characterized by interesting transitions to low moors, which is reflected in a diversity of inland communities. Due to its small size, the area is of great importance for the great crested newt."
