The road to the airport passes the River Leynará and from here you can also see the large fish ladder in the river. The fish ladder is located about 100 meters from where the river flows into Vágafjørður.

The fishing ladder consists of several sections. It is built of large stones and cement. In addition to the ladders, there is also a kind of tub.

The Leynará River originates in Lake Leynavatn. Lake Leynavatn is the sixth largest lake in the Faroe Islands and is at the bottom of the Kollafjörður valley surrounded by steep mountain cliffs.

The Leynará river is about 2 km long. The estimate terrain elevation above seal level is 92 metres. Compared to rivers in other countries, you can say that this river is a very short river. But what it lacks in length, it has in quantity of fresh water and fish. And that is why it is a very popular fishing spot...but remember to buy a fishing license, otherwise it costs a fine.
From the lake there is a natural population of mountain trout (Salvelinus alpinus), in addition to the common river trout (Salmo trutta fario). Via the Leynará destination, Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and sea trout (Salmo trutta trutta) swim up through the river to the lake.

The Faroe Islands (Faroese: Føroyar) are a group of 18 islands of volcanic origin in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean between Great Britain, Iceland and Norway
The Faroe Islands are located in the Gulf Stream and this means that the average temperature is 3 degrees in winter and 11 degrees in summer.
