[ES] Junto a la Ronda de Toledo, muy cerca de la Puerta de este nombre, se levanta una vieja chimenea recordándonos que en este lugar, hoy convertido en jardín, estuvo ubicada la antigua Fábrica de Gas o Gasómetro de Madrid.

La Fábrica de Gas fue construida en 1847, por la sociedad mercantil La Madrileña, después de conseguir iluminar con éxito varias calles de la ciudad (Paseo y calle del Prado, calle del Lobo) y constatar la buena acogida de esta nueva fuente de energía.

Esta chimenea es el único resto que queda de la antigua fábrica de gas.

[EN] Next to the Ronda de Toledo, very close to the Gate of this name, stands an old chimney reminding us that the old Madrid Gas Factory or Gasometer was located in this place, now converted into a garden.

The Gas Factory was built in 1847, by the trading company La Madrileña, after successfully lighting several streets in the city (Paseo and Calle del Prado, Calle del Lobo) and verifying the good reception of this new source of energy.

This chimney is the only remnant of the old gasworks.
