"The origin of the Pazo dates back to 1865, when Marshal Rubín de Celis ordered the construction of the current building on the ruins of an old Franciscan convent. Since then, the Pazo has served as the home of illustrious figures such as Montero Ríos, Cristino Martos, and Joaquín Sorolla. It also served as an enclave for military receptions, as a refuge during the Civil War and as a military hospital during World War II. From 1960 it was abandoned until the end of the 20th century, when its spectacular 80,000m2 estate and its buildings were restored for wedding celebrations."
