"History
More than two decades have passed since, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of an Arouquense, Adelino Pinho, Rádio Regional de Arouca was born, today one of the most listened to local stations in the North and Center of the country.

It was the year 1986, when, in the spirit of taking the name of his land further afield, Adelino Pinho took up this project, depending only on his wishes and financial availability.

It was initially installed in the Sacristy of the Capela de S. Tiago in the parish of Chave, later moving to a building, owned by Professor Ilidio, in the place of Farrapa in the same parish, where it remained for some time.

The acceptance by an audience that grew, broadcast after broadcast, gave rise to new needs and new challenges. Without ever giving up, its owner and Director Adelino Pinho, felt the “obligation” to make this project grow, so the new facilities appear, already in the heart of Vila de Arouca, where we are still today.

These improvements, installations and working conditions, had repercussions in the improvement of emissions and consequently an increase in its audience, a fact that began to have the adherence of neighboring municipalities. Rádio Regional de Arouca grew, grew, grew… it was like today, the biggest vehicle for propagating the name of the land and beyond.

The proliferation of broadcasting stations, felt the government at the time, the need to regulate the national radiophonic space. Therefore, a period of silencing of the so-called local or pirate radios follows.

Not wanting to let his project die, Adelino Pinho tried partnerships, especially with the local written press, but no one wanted or could embrace such a bold idea. Not giving up on his dream, he fully resorted to his capital, presented his candidacy, and fighting with all his strength he set out for the process of legalizing Rádio Regional de Arouca. It was a year of maturing ideas, preparing the ground and we were back in AR.

On April 1, 1986, 7 am, Good morning Arouca, from Arouca to the entire North and Center of the country. Thus, for the first time, the Rádio Regional de Arouca was broadcast legally.

Over the course of these two decades, it gained listeners, surpassed the geographical barrier of the municipality, captivated listeners and grew more and more.

In an increasingly global world, where new technologies and new challenges in the area of ??telecommunications appear at a daily pace, we could not remain on the sidelines of this progress, so, in a project promoted by the Portuguese Radio Broadcasting Association, through the program ROLI, we joined to the Radio On-line project.

Radio Regional de Arouca can now be heard all over the world at www.radioregionaldearouca.com.

Our history is made on a daily basis, always with the certainty that we want more, and much more…"
