Kompastuskivet (saks. Stolpersteine) ovat berliiniläissyntyisen taiteilijan Gunter Demnigin aloitteesta syntynyt projekti, jolla muistetaan henkilöitä, joita murhattiin, kuljetettiin tuhoamisleireille, ajettiin itsemurhaan tai muulla tavoin vainottiin Natsi-Saksassa.
Kompastuskivet ovat kuution muotoisia betonikiviä, joiden sivun pituus on kymmenen senttimetriä. Niiden yläpinnassa on messinkiselle levylle painettu teksti, joka kuvaa muistettavaa henkilöä. Tekstissä on tavallisesti henkilön nimi, syntymäaika ja lyhyesti tietoja hänen kuolemaansa johtaneista tapahtumista ja niiden ajoista.
Kivet asennetaan upottaen katukiveykseen siten, että messinkinen pinta on kadun pinnan tasossa. Kompastuskivet pyritään sijoittamaan kadulle sen talon eteen, jossa uhrin tiedetään viimeksi asuneen omasta tahdostaan. Henkilön elämästä kertova teksti alkaa sanoilla: ”Täällä asui...”. Gunter Demnig siteeraa Talmudia sanoessaan: ”Ihminen on vasta sitten unohdettu, kun hänen nimeään ei muisteta.” Kompastuskivet pitävät yllä paikalla eläneiden muistoa. (lähde: Wikipedia)
Tämä kompastuskivi julkaistiin 25.10.2022 ja on lajissaan ensimmäinen Turussa. Helsingissä näitä on julkaistu jo aiemmin 7 kpl.

Hansilla oli jo aiemmin yksi Kompastuskivi joka julkaistiin Ruotsissa Tukholmassa vuonna 2019. Hän asui siellä ennen kuin pakeni Suomeen.

A Stolperstein; literally 'stumbling stone', metaphorically a 'stumbling block') is a sett-size, ten-centimetre (3.9 in) concrete cube bearing a brass plate inscribed with the name and life dates of victims of Nazi extermination or persecution.
The Stolpersteine project, initiated by the German artist Gunter Demnig in 1992, aims to commemorate individuals at exactly the last place of residency—or, sometimes, work—which was freely chosen by the person before they fell victim to Nazi terror, euthanasia, eugenics, deportation to a concentration or extermination camp, or escaped persecution by emigration or suicide. As of December 2019, 75,000 Stolpersteine have been laid, making the Stolpersteine project the world's largest decentralized memorial.
The majority of Stolpersteine commemorate Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Others have been placed for Sinti and Romani people (then also called "gypsies"), Poles, homosexuals, the physically or mentally disabled, Jehovah's Witnesses, black people, members of the Communist Party, the Social Democratic Party, and the anti-Nazi Resistance, the Christian opposition (both Protestants and Catholics), and Freemasons, along with International Brigade soldiers in the Spanish Civil War, military deserters, conscientious objectors, escape helpers, capitulators, "habitual criminals", looters, and others charged with treason, military disobedience, or undermining the Nazi military, as well as Allied soldiers. This Stolperstein was published 25.10.2022 and it is the first of its kind in Turku. In Helsinki there are 7 of them published earlier.

Hans had already one Stolperstein in Stockholm, Sweden. It was published in 2019. He lived there before he escaped to Finland.
