Usually called as "Kanda Catholic Church". The shrine is registered as Cultural Properties by Japanese Government.
Located in the south of Suidobashi Bridge on a street corner. It is a basilica-style three-aisle chapel with semicircular arched apertures, Lombard-style eaves bellows, and four-leaf motifs on the exterior, and features a semicircular vaulted ceiling and a meeting hall on the side of the entrance. Designed by Max Hinder, the Switzerland Architect.
History;
1872: A foreign language school is established in Kojimachi Sanbancho by Priests from the Paris Foreign Mission.
Jan 1874: The foreign language school moves to a new location where this cathedral is located. A cathedral is established in the school at that time.
Sep 1, 1923: The cathedral collapses and burns down in the Great Kanto Earthquake.
Dec 9, 1928: The present cathedral is completed.
