The Virgen Stella Maris (Virgin Mary, Star of the Sea) is the patron saint of seafarers in general, and is regarded as such to the Navy of Paraguay. This anchor is part of a shrine to Mary. A plaque behind the anchor is in Spanish; a translation is:
