Naast de Braakmolen vind je Klompenmuseum 't Oale Ambacht. Hier ontdek je hoe kleine smokkelaars vroeger de douane te glad af waren. De collectie bestaat uit internationale klompen, handgereedschappen en oude machines.
Hoeveel klompen je kunt bekijken bij het Klompenmuseum? Heel veel, in alle soorten en maten, beschilderd of onbewerkt én uit verschillende landen. Wist je dat bijna 1.000 jaar lang de klomp het standaard schoeisel was?
Naast de klompen kun je in het museum ook een verzameling handgereedschappen en oude machines bekijken. De machines namen gedurende de tijd het handwerk over.
Het met de hand klompenmaken is een zeer specialistisch vak en kan bijna tot kunst verheven worden. Om dit uitstervende beroep levend te houden worden er jaarlijks internationale wedstrijden georganiseerd.
Eigen klompenmakers, waaronder Nederlandse en Europese kampioenen, geven regelmatig op woensdagmiddag (april tot en met oktober) demonstraties handmatig klompen maken.
Op de andere dagen is er altijd iemand aanwezig die je rond kan leiden."

Next to the Braakmolen you will find Klompenmuseum 't Oale Ambacht. Here you will discover how small smugglers used to beat customs. The collection consists of international clogs, hand tools and old machines.
How many clogs can you view at the Clog Museum? A lot, in all shapes and sizes, painted or unprocessed and from different countries. Did you know that for almost 1,000 years the clog was the standard footwear?
In addition to the clogs, you can also view a collection of hand tools and old machines in the museum. Over time, the machines took over the manual work.
Making clogs by hand is a very specialized profession and can almost be elevated to an art form. To keep this dying profession alive, international competitions are organized every year.
Our own clog makers, including Dutch and European champions, regularly give demonstrations of manual clog making on Wednesday afternoons (April to October).
On the other days there is always someone who can show you around."
