Turun tuomiokirkon kirkkosalin lattia on Öölannin kalkkikiveä 1700-luvulta. Se on paikoitellen jo kovin kulunut mutta fossiileja löytyy monesta paikasta. Valitsin tähän waymarkiin uudempaa lattiaa eli vessojen edessä on samaa Öölannin kalkkikiveä mutta nämä kivet on laitettu huomattavasti myöhemmin paikoilleen. Fossiilit ovat tässä selkeästi näkyvissä.
Oikosarviset olivat kovakuorisia nilviäisiä joiden sarven muotoinen kuori on fossiloitunut. Nämä kehittyivät noin 495 miljoonaa vuotta sitten ja kuolivat sukupuuttoon noin 225 miljoonaa vuotta sitten. Ne olivat aikanaan merten yleisimpiä eläimiä ja niiden fossiileita onkin säilynyt huomattavia määriä. Oikosarviset saattoivat kasvaa jopa monen metrin pituisiksi mutta eniten löytyy muutaman kymmenen sentin pituisia fossiileja.

Turku Cathedral church hall floor is Öland limestone from 1700's. It is partly quite worn but you can find fossils at many places. I chose to this waymark a more modern spot of flooring, near toilets is the same Öland limestone but it is put there much more recently.
Orthocone were hard shelled nautiloid cephalopod, the fossilised part is their straight shell. They were once very common in seas and therefore can be found in many places. Orthocone could grow a couple of meters long but mostly there are fossils smaller than half a meter.
You can find fossils at many places in this church, pictures for this waymark are taken in front of toilets. Go in from main entrance and then turn right.
