The summit of Corcovado Mountain (which is the site of Christ the Redeemer) offers stunning views of Rio de Janeiro and the surrounding bays. The site can be reached by taking the cog railroad to the platform below the statue, and then climbing 220 stone steps to the summit. Private cars are not allowed here; the furthest you can drive on Corcovado Mountain is to a parking area about midway down the mountain.
