"Els Jansma also liked to draw and paint as a child. When she was about six years old, her mother sent her first drawing to the newspaper. Years later she started working with pastels. In recent years she only works with oil paint. This paint is characterized by the beautiful deep colors that you can mix beautifully on the canvas. Because she puts different layers on top of each other, a beautiful effect of various color nuances is created. She uses a lot of paint for this. This is also clearly reflected in her work. In addition to a brush, often a palette knife is also used to properly deposit the paint on the canvas.
The studio of Els Jansma is located on the idyllically located Havenplein in Harlingen, in an attractive building from 1728 with a rich history. Harlingen is a rich, cozy monumental city, where the sea ports penetrate far into the center. From this special place, one can see the Wadden Sea, smell the salty air and contemplate a diversity of skies. The beauty in nature is therefore a great source of inspiration for her.
It is this source of inspiration that ultimately resulted in a wide variety of canvases. Els Jansma is happy to give you an impression of this on this website.
