Il "Teatro del Pavone" in Via Luigi Bonazzi, 67 a Perugia è il più antico teatro di Perugia. Fu costruito per la prima volta nel 1717, poi demolito e ricostruito nel 1765.

L'11.02.1832, un articolo apparso su "Il Censore Universale Dei Teatri" (un giornale italiano che si occupava di argomenti teatrali e che veniva pubblicato due volte alla settimana) parlava della riapertura del "Teatro del Pavone" di Perugia dopo la sua modernizzazione. Una trascrizione dell'articolo recita:

"Teatro del Pavone

Questo nobile Teatro del Pavone celebrar volle nel presente carnevale una specie di nuova apertura, giacché per cura e dispendio di quegli ornatissimi signori Accademici fu esso intieramente rimodernato, e fornito d'ogni suo comodo, col massimo sfoggio di ricchezza, eleganza, e buon gusto. Con opera seria dunque e gran ballo fu soleanizzata una sì brillante festivita, e gli artisti eletti a tal uopo segnati si trovano nel mio ultimo numero dell’anno già trapassato. Anche qui si bramò di ascoltare Zadig ed Astartea del maestro Vacaj, ed anche qui ebbe questo spartito un fausto successo. Le due sorelle Berti, signore Geltrude e Giuseppina, che vi sostengono le parti dei protagonisti, vi trovarono un incontro di strepito.

Quella in soprano, in contralto questa di bellissima voce fornite, ed ambe ad ottima scuola ammaestrate, fanno ad evidenza discernere, che, pari a quello dei fisici loro doni, trovò l’istruzione in esse anche il vantaggio dell’ intendimento e del sentimento, per arricchire la professione melodrammatica di due nuove ed assai pregevoli virtuose.

Espressivo e dolcemente modulato è il canta della signora Geltrude; animatissimo ed accompagnato da una franca e dignitosa azione maschile è quello della signora Giuseppina; ad ambe perciò fu giustamente larga la numerosa loro udienza di vivissimi applausi. Bella e vigorosa è la voce del tenore, sig. Lorenzo Biacchi, che eseguisce energicamente la parte di Coraman, e che soprattutto colla superba sua aria del second’atto si guadagnò l'universale approvazione espressa in forti acclamazioni. Per questi tre soggetti ebbe quindi lo Zadig un tale sostegno da rendersi tatti gratissimo.

Il coreografo sig. Coppini poi aggiunse a questa bell’opera il suo ballo tragico di Bianca de Rossi, suffragato anch’esso da un incontro fortunatissimo. La sua composizione è qui generalmente stimata; a farla nondimeno maggiormente considerare assunse principalmente l'incarico la nella danza quanto nell'azione abilissima signora Teresa de Paolis. A quell'eloquenza d’espressione, che vivamente dipinge il contrasto delle più veementi passioni, sorpresi e commossi si sentirono tutti i suoi spettatori, che altamente l'ammirarono , e clamorosamente l'applaudirono; tutta la sua esecuzione perciò risvegliò un grande entusiasmo, e del raro suo mimico ingegno si diffuse per tutto il paese la luminosa fama, senza bisogno di ulterior diffusione, essendo essa per tutto altrove egualmente onorifica a sonora voce già propagata. Quando poi fu veduta con mirabile grazia e leggiadria supplire anche all'impegno di espertissima danzatrice, come la sorpresa crebbero così pure gli universali trasporti, ed anche in Perugia la signora De Paolis ha riportato il trofeo della doppia corona. Prime nell’azione e nella danza fu qui egualmente il sig. Pietro Fietta, e lo fu in ambi questi incarichi con onore; nè meno onorevole fu il disimpegno della parte di Ezellino assunta dallo stesso compositore. A questi ed agli altri quindi è dovuta non poca lode, perchè anche gli altri coi primi concorsero a rendere intiera e dell'una e dell'altra parte dello spettacolo la riuscita. L'opera per le Berti, il ballo per la De Paolis, il complessivo spettacolo per le avvedute cure dell’impresario sig. Giulio Tomich, che intese a decorarlo magnificamente di vestimenti, scenarj e d'ogni altro più ricco accessorio, meritarono dunque tutto quel comune contentamento, che corrisponder doveva ad una sì solenne teatrale apertura."

The "Teatro del Pavone" (Peacock Theater) in Via Luigi Bonazzi, 67 in Perugia is the oldest theater in Perugia. It was first built in 1717, then demolished and rebuilt in 1765.

On 02/11/1832 the "Il Censore Universale Dei Teatri" (an Italian newspaper that concentrated on theater topics and was published twice a week) had an article about the new opening of the "Teatro del Pavone" in Perugia after its modernization. A transcription of the article translates to:

"Teatro del Pavone

This noble Teatro del Pavone wanted to celebrate in the present carnival a kind of new opening, since by the care and expense of those ornate gentlemen Academicians it was entirely remodeled, and furnished with every one of its comforts, with the greatest display of wealth, elegance, and good taste. With serious work therefore and great dancing such a brilliant festivity was solemnized, and the artists elected for that purpose marked can be found in my last issue of the year already passed. Here, too, they yearned to hear Master Vacaj's Zadig and Astartea, and here, too, this score was a felicitous success. The two Berti sisters, ladies Geltrude and Giuseppina, who take the parts of the protagonists in it, found it a resounding match.

The soprano, the alto and the beautiful voice, both trained in the best school, show that their training benefited not only their physical gifts but also their understanding and feeling, and enrich the profession of the melodramatist with two new and very worthy virtuosos.

Expressive and sweetly modulated is the singing of Mrs. Geltrude; animated and accompanied by a frank and dignified masculine action is that of Mrs. Josephine; to both therefore was justly wide their numerous audience of lively applause. Beautiful and vigorous is the voice of the tenor, Mr. Lorenzo Biacchi, who vigorously performs the part of Coraman, and who especially with his superb aria in the second act earned universal approval expressed in loud acclamations. For these three subjects Zadig thus had such support that he made himself tatti gratissimo.

The choreographer Mr. Coppini then added to this beautiful work his tragic dance of Bianca de Rossi, also supported by a most fortunate encounter. His composition is generally esteemed here; to make it more highly regarded, however, took on the task mainly in the dance as well as in the action, the skilled Signora Teresa de Paolis. At that eloquence of expression, which vividly depicts the contrast of the most vehement passions, surprised and moved felt all her spectators, who highly admired her , and clamorously applauded her; all her performance therefore awakened great enthusiasm, and of her rare mimic ingenuity spread throughout the country the luminous fame, without need of further diffusion, it being for all elsewhere equally honorable to sonorous voice already propagated. When then she was seen with admirable grace and gracefulness also making up for her commitment as an expert dancer, as the surprise grew so did the universal transports, and even in Perugia Mrs. De Paolis brought back the trophy of the double crown. Prime in action and dance was here equally Mr. Pietro Fietta, and he was in both of these assignments with honor; nor was the disengagement of the part of Ezellino assumed by the composer himself less honorable. To these and to the others, therefore, no small praise is due, because the others with the former also concurred in making the success of both parts of the performance complete. The opera for the Berti, the ball for De Paolis, the overall performance for the shrewd care of the impresario Mr. Giulio Tomich, who magnificently decorated it with costumes, scenery and every other richer accessory, therefore deserved all that common contentment, which should correspond to such a solemn theatrical opening."
