This electric locomotive, first placed in service in 1910, is on display here in St. Jude Thaddeus Square, near the Corcovado Cog Train Station - in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This small but stout electric locomotive was part of the first electric railway in Brazil, which took tram cars of workers (and then tourists) up Corcovado Mountain to the then still under construction site for the Christ the Redeemer statue. The statue itself was set in place between 1922 and 1931. The locomotive is behind a fence, so no entry is allowed.

The translation of the text on the large plaque is:

This electric locomotive went into operation on the Corcovado Railway in January 1910, becoming the first electrified railway in Brazil. It operated here until 1975. Was placed here in St. Jude Thaddeus Square on the occasion of prayers for the 127th anniversary of Rio de Janeiro, October 9, 2011.
